I'm James Kittendorf and I really am a professional dog photographer! I have a passion for capturing the unique personality and spirit of dogs through my lens. I’m currently based in Traverse City, Michigan, and I’ve been a photographer for over 15 years.

Growing up in Northern Michigan, I developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the bond between humans and animals. My love for dogs started when I was a kid and has only grown stronger over the years. I am lucky to share my life with my loyal companions, Chauncey and Millie, both pit bulls who inspire me daily with their goofy, playful, and loving nature.

My photography style is based entirely on on-location shoots, where I work to capture the unique personalities of each dog in a natural environment. My focus is solely on the animal, with no human element to the portraits. I strive to capture the essence of each dog's character, expressions, and movements that make them unique.

As a dog owner and lover, I understand the bond that exists between dogs and their owners. I am commissioned to capture portraits that depict the true spirit and personality of the dog, so that our clients can display the photos as fine art and treasure for a lifetime.
